Alien Invasion Locked Barrel
As the name says, Locked Barrel is a barrel which is fixed to the ground which means it’s location is permanently fixed in the game. These barrels can be found close to resource producing structures at winter zone. These structures are Furnace, Factory, Chemical Plant etc.
If you have already unlocked these structures then you will know that you can obtain a specific type of resource from each of these structures. However in order to obtain the refined resource you first need to put the raw material or reagent in these structures.
You can obtain the reagents either by manually catching drones or by unlocking Reagents Income stat in the structures. Both of these methods to obtain reagents are time consuming and thus if you want to obtain reagents faster then you need to take advantage of locked barrels.
With the help of locked barrel you can obtain much more amount of reagent simply by watching an ad. The great thing is that you can watch ads at locked barrel spots several times, which means you can 100% fill the structures within just few minutes.
When an ad is available to be watched at locked barrel it will display an “OPEN” message with a video icon above the barrel, together with the amount of reagent you can obtain by watching the ad. You can then tap on the “Open” message to start watching the ad.
As soon as you have completed watching the ad, your alien will start claiming or consuming the barrel which will be shown through a percentage. After claiming the barrel you will obtain the specified amount of reagent which you can then deliver to the structure.
It’s important that you don’t move away from the barrel after watching the ad. If you do for some reason, then make sure to get back to barrel and claim it within few seconds. Otherwise the barrel will get locked again and you will again need to watch an ad to get reagent from barrel.

That’s how the locked barrel normally works however a lot of players complain that their locked barrel doesn’t work. They basically want to say that their barrel never gives them the option to watch ad. If you are also among those players then the message above your barrel might always be greyed out.
In such a case whenever you tap on the message above the barrel you will get an “Ads Not Available” pop up. The description of the pop up will say “All available advertising has ended at the moment. Come back later”.
If it happens once in a while then it’s completely normal and you just need to check the barrel again after sometime. However if you keep getting this message all the time and are never able to watch ads at locked barrels then it could be due to below mentioned reasons.
1. The first and the most possible reason is that you might haven’t yet unlocked Furnace, Factory or Chemical Plant. In order for the associated locked barrel to be functional you first need to unlock it’s structure. So make sure to unlock the structures before hoping for barrels to be functional.
2. The other reason could be that your structure or building might be in processing phase. All structures require 30 minutes to process the reagent and provide you the refined resource. During these 30 minutes and also if you haven’t yet claimed the refined resource, you won’t be able to watch ads at the barrel.
3. You might not be checking the barrel at proper time. The time when you get the option to watch ads for resources at bottom left side of your screen is the best time to check the barrel. The barrel has the highest chance of having ads at that time and thus you should quickly run and check the barrels.
4. Your location (country) could also be a reason for your barrels to be non working. If the advertiser is not willing to run ads at your location then unfortunately you won’t be able to watch any ads.
Just check which of these reasons might be the cause and correct it to make your barrels work. If you are still unable to watch ads at locked barrels then there could be an issue with your account and you might need to contact support to get it resolved.
