Smithy is one of the most important buildings at your city in Viking Rise mobile game. When you start playing the game or even if you have been playing for a week, you won’t be able to build it. The reason is because you need to upgrade your Chief’s Hall to level 16 (which takes a few weeks) before you could build it. Smithy has a lot of functions in it which makes a lot of players confused about how it works or exactly how to use Smithy. If you are also among those players then no need to worry anymore. In this Smithy guide i will briefly tell you everything you need to know about Smithy as well as Equipment in Viking Rise. So let’s check it out!
Viking Rise Smithy Guide
If you haven’t yet built Smithy in your city then you might be completely unfamiliar about the use or purpose of this building. So let me tell you that Smithy is used for crafting or forging equipment for your heroes. These equipment can be equipped on your heroes to get different boosts like PVE Damage Increase, specific Troop’s Attack Increase, Increasing Squad Load, March Speed Increase etc.
The first thing you need to do is try to upgrade your Chief’s Hall to level 16 as fast as possible. Because only then you will be able to unlock Smithy and use it to forge different equipment. The earlier you are able to craft and equip equipment, easier it will be for you to complete Chapter and other missions to progress fast in the game.
Now let’s check out exactly how to forge equipment using Smithy. When you tap on Smithy in your city you will find five buttons underneath it. You need to tap on the fourth button with forge icon on it. This will open the main screen where you can see every equipment you can forge.
You can forge 4 types of equipment in the game. The first is a weapon, second is for equipping on head, third for upper body and the last for lower body part. You can check all available equipment for each of these four types by selecting the respective category icon or tab at top right of the screen.
Just before these categories you will also find “Grade” with five different colors in front of it. These colors denote the rarity of equipment. Each equipment is actually available in five different rarities. By selecting different grade colors you can compare the stats of a particular equipment in different rarities. Below you can check which grade color denotes which equipment rarity.
- Grey – Uncommon Equipment
- Green – Common Equipment
- Blue – Rare Equipment
- Purple – Epic Equipment
- Golden – Legendary Equipment
At the very left of the screen you will find a column with four tabs. These tabs are Basic Equipment, Special Equipment, Forgeable Equipment and Favorited. These tabs basically just allow you to display equipment according to your choice. Below you can learn about each of these four tabs found at Smithy screen.
- Basic Equipment – These are regular equipment which require basic materials to forge
- Special Equipment – These are more powerful equipment which require special items to forge
- Forgeable Equipment – Displays only those equipment which you can currently forge
- Favorited – Displays your favorite equipment. You can mark an equipment as favorite by tapping on star icon at top left corner of it.
After going through all listed equipment you need to tap on “Forge” button in front of the equipment you want to forge. You will then be taken to the “Forge Equipment” screen where you can check the requirements to forge that equipment as well as the boosts gained by wearing that equipment. If you have the required materials then simply tap on the Forge button to start crafting that equipment.
Once you have successfully forged an equipment you can then equip it on a hero of your choice. For this you first need to open the Hero screen and tap on “Details” button for the hero you want to equip the equipment on. After that just tap on “Equipment” tab at bottom of the screen to finally wear the equipment in it’s respective slot.

Now i am going to tell you how to get materials for forging different equipment. Basic Equipment require materials like Wood Block, Rope, Linen, Feather, Fur and Ore. All these materials are also available in different rarities like uncommon, common, rare, epic and legendary. You will need the same rarity of materials as the rarity of the equipment you want to forge. So a rare equipment will need rare materials, epic will need epic materials and so on.
You have a chance to obtain any of these basic materials while gathering resources from resource points in the open world. You will receive a Mail under “System” tab whenever you get any of these resources, when your troops return to the city after gathering a resource.
In order to obtain higher rarity materials you need to “Fuse” low rarity materials. Similarly in order to obtain low rarity material from a high rarity you need to “Dismantle” a high rarity material. You need to fuse together 4 materials in order to obtain 1 high rarity material and you need to dismantle or sacrifice 1 high rarity material to get 4 low rarity materials.
For example, you need to fuse 4 common Wood Block to get 1 Rare Wood Block and fuse 4 Rare Wood Block to get 1 Epic Wood Block. Similarly you can dismantle 1 Rare Wood Block to get 4 Common Wood Block and dismantle 1 Common Wood Block to get 4 Uncommon Wood Block. You can Fuse and Dismantle materials inside Smithy itself. For that you just need to select Smithy in your city and tap on the 5th button. Now simply switch to “Fuse/Dismantle Materials” tab and select the material you want to fuse or dismantle.
Other than obtaining while gathering, you can also get these basic materials from different Material Boxes. There are three ways to get these material boxes in the game. Below you can learn about each of these three ways.
1. The first way to get different material boxes is from Hunter Level Rewards at Smithy. In order to access it, tap on Smithy and choose the third button with animal head icon to open the “Conquest Quests” screen. Here you need to gain Hunter Experience by defeating monsters in the open world. By gaining this experience you will increase your Hunter level to be able to claim different Hunter Level Rewards from top of the screen.
2. The second way to get material boxes is by purchasing them from Prosperity Merchant who can be accessed using Honey Tavern in your City. You will need to increase your Prosperity Level in order to purchase higher quality boxes using gems.
3. The third way to obtain them is by participating in events. There are certain events from which you can obtain these boxes as a reward. One such event is “Gather Supplies” which appears for only two days in the game (Tuesday and Wednesday).
The last thing you need to know is that “Special Equipment” require special materials (not Wood Block, Rope, Fur etc.) in order to forge them. These special materials can be obtained as a “Random Reward” by defeating monsters at “Conquest Quests” screen of Smithy.
Each Monster has it’s own set of special equipment and in order to forge an equipment from a particular set you will need materials which can be obtained by defeating that specific monster. Every day only two specific monsters quests appear at conquest quests screen. If you don’t find the monster you are looking for, just wait for another day till that monster’s quests are available.
