Arena is a new permanent game mode released with version 1.4.45 update in Viking Rise mobile game. In this mode you can challenge Viking Chiefs from different Kingdoms and defeat their troops in order to reach higher leagues to claim various types of rewards. Since this new mode has just been released therefore a lot of players have different confusions and issues like how to unlock Arena, how arena works, how to claim rewards etc. If you are also having a hard time understanding Arena then you don’t need to worry anymore. In this post i will tell you everything you need to know about Arena in Viking Rise. So let’s check it out!
Viking Rise Arena Guide
The first thing you need to know is that how to unlock arena since a lot of players can’t find it in their game, even after updating to the latest version. So let me tell you that you need to complete Stage 7 of the “Chronicles” event in order to unlock it. It doesn’t matter whether you achieve the two goals mentioned at Stage 7 or not, arena will be unlocked for you on reaching this chapter.
After unlocking Arena you can access it using the very first button at bottom right side of the screen, having two swords over a shield button. After tapping the button you will find Rankings, Your Details, Record and Defensive Lineup buttons at left side while Reward and Shop buttons at right side of the screen.
The first thing you must do after opening the Arena screen is to tap on Defensive Lineup button and create a Defense Squad. This is the Squad that other players will battle with, when they challenge you in the Arena. Make sure to assign your most powerful heroes who are prepared with leveled up Skills and strong Equipment.
At this screen you will find a 4×2 grid. You can create a squad with a Main and Secondary Commander and position them at a slot on this grid. In the beginning you can assign only 1 troop but as you progress to higher leagues you will be able unlock more queues and assign up to 5 troops on the grid in your Defensive Lineup.
Note that you don’t need to assign your own troops from the main game in this Defensive Lineup. The game automatically provides you 1,50,000 tier 5 troops to assign on the grid. This is actually a great thing because you won’t need to spend your resources for healing these troops as they are provided specially for Arena only.
Once you have a strong defense formation you can return to the Arena screen and tap on “Challenge” button to start challenging other Viking Chiefs. At this screen you will find three players to challenge. If you think that the current three players are stronger than you then you can tap on “Refresh” button to get a new choice of players. You can refresh as many times as you want but you need to wait for 10 minutes between each refresh.
By tapping on arrow button in front on each player you can check more details about your opponents like the level of their heroes, the skills and their levels as well as the equipment they are wearing. These information will help you decide if you should battle with them or just refresh to get new choices.
These squads of different players you see on the Challenge screen are actually the troops they have assigned on their Defensive Lineup, just like you have done in your lineup. Also note that you can challenge only 5 players per day for free. After that you need to spend gems if you want to challenge more players. The required amount of gems also keeps increasing with each challenge. The Arena Challenge is refreshed every day at 00:00 UTC and that’s when your 5 free challenges will be restored.
Each Arena Challenge battle runs for 5 minutes. You need to either defeat all enemy troops within these 5 minutes or have more troops than your enemy at the end of 5 minutes in order to win the challenge. If you don’t want to wait for 5 minutes then you can just tap on “Skip” button at bottom right corner to get the battle result right away.
One more important thing you need to know is that most of the buffs won’t take effect in Arena. These include buffs from Tribe Skills, Tribe Titles, personal Tech, City Skins, City Buildings, Troop items, Kingdom Titles, Divine Realms, Kingdom Buffs and Runes.

Viking Rise Arena Leagues
By defeating other players and winning challenges you will get two things, Arena Stars and Arena Points. Arena Stars are what you need in order to reach higher leagues. Every 3 consecutive challenges you win, you get 1 bonus star. Important thing to note is that this win streak bonus is available only for Diamond league and below. Below you can check all arena leagues in lowest to highest order. Each league is also sub divided into minor leagues, with the exception of Fearless Warrior & God of War leagues.
- Iron League
- Bronze League
- Silver League
- Gold League
- Diamond League
- Fearless Warrior League
- God of War League
By winning challenges you get 1 star but on losing a challenge you also lose 1 star. However in beginner leagues like Iron and Bronze you don’t lose stars on losing a challenge. Here is a tip for winning more stars from single challenge. At Challenge screen you can check the league of the opponent player at the very front. If you defeat a player who is in a higher league than yours, you will get extra (up to 3) stars. This is a great way to reach higher leagues faster.
Another way to gain stars is by defending successfully. Whenever your troops in Defensive Lineup defend successfully, you will get 1 star. In case they couldn’t defend then you will also lose 1 star. Therefore it’s really important to level up the heroes your have assigned at Defensive Lineup as well as their skills.
The second thing you get on winning challenges are Arena Points. You actually get these points on both winning and losing a challenge, but you obviously get less points on losing. The number of Arena Points you get depends upon your current league. Below you can check how many points do you get at each league.
- Iron League – 400 points
- Bronze League – 600 points
- Silver League – 800 points
- Gold League – 1,100 points
- Diamond League – 1,500 points
- Fearless Warrior League – 2,000 points
- God of War League – 2,000 points
Viking Rise Arena Shop & Reward
You can spend your collected Arena Points at Arena Shop accessible from the main screen of Arena. Here you can purchase items like Wood, Stone, Food, Gold, Speedups, Hero Experience, Oracle & Blessed Soulstone, Skill Experience etc. More items unlock in the Shop as you reach higher leagues.
You also get massive amount of League Rewards which is determined by your league at the end of each Arena. Other than that you can also get a good amount of items from Weekly Rewards. These weekly rewards are sent to your mail every Monday at 00:00 UTC. So try your best to reach and maintain the position in higher leagues every week.
There are also Achievement Rewards which can be claimed after obtaining certain achievements. These Achievement rewards do not reset and can be claimed only once. All these three rewards (League Rewards, Weekly Rewards and Achievement Rewards) are also a great way to get several thousands of Arena Points.
