Monster Essence is one of the important but also kinda rare item in Viking Rise mobile game. It is an essential item required for upgrading Squad Base in your City. Squad Base (or Troop Base) is the building where you can review your troops. It has also a Hero Boot Camp where you can train heroes of your choice to make them automatically gain EXP over time. So you can see that upgrading this building is really useful. However a lot of players have no idea about how to get this important item. How To Get Monster Essence In Viking Rise
The training speed of your heroes as well as the number of heroes you can assign at Squad Base both are really low by default. In the beginning you can assign only 1 hero for training but the good thing is that you can assign up to 5 heroes at Boot Camp in your Troop Base. However in order to assign that many heroes you need to upgrade your Squad Base.
It’s important to upgrade multiple heroes and what could be better than being able to upgrade them without spending Hero Experience. By upgrading Troop Base you don’t only increase the number of heroes in training but also increase training speed, max training duration, EXP per hour as well as “Might” gained.
Just like all other buildings, you need food, lumber, stone and gold (at higher squad base levels) for upgrading Squad Base. But together with all these you also need a rare item called Monster Essence. As you reach higher squad base level, the required number of Monster Essence will also keep increasing. Therefore it’s important that you regularly keep farming this item if you want to take your Troop Base to higher levels.
If you don’t know how to get Monster Essence in Viking Rise then let me tell you that there are multiple ways to get it in the game. However it’s still not that easy to get it, specially if you are not much experienced or strong enough in the game. But no need to worry even if you are not that strong yet, you can learn how to get Monster Essence right now and then implement it after you become more powerful. So below i am going to mention different ways you can use to get Monster Essence in Viking Rise.
1. The first way to get Monster Essence is by visiting Tavern Keeper. He is a merchant whom you can meet after building Honey Tavern at your city. Tavern Keeper sells all kinds of items and resources like Gathering Boosts, Trade Boosts, Patrol Boosts, Squad Expansions, Anti-Scouts, Shields, Speed ups, Soulstones and more.
To purchase Monster Essence from Tavern Keeper, tap on Honey Tavern building and choose the second button (balance icon). Now tap on Tavern Keeper and switch to his 4th tab where you will find Monster Essence. You can buy as many essence as you want for 20 gems each.
2. The second way doesn’t require you to spend gems, which is great! However there is a limit on how many essence you can get using this way at each reset. This time also you need to take help from a merchant. If you don’t know then let me tell you that there is not just one but actually various merchants selling all kinds of items available in the game.

What you need to do in this second method is to again tap on the balance icon button at Honey Tavern. You will now be able to see three merchants, tap on Prosperity Merchant (the first one). This will open up Prosperity Shop from where you can purchase Monster Essence using Lumber. However you can buy up to 50 Monster Essence only. In order to buy more you need to wait for the shop to reset, which takes one week.
3. The third way to get Monster Essence requires you to attack and defeat fierce monsters. This means you must be strong enough and have a large enough troop in order to use this method. What you need to do is tap on the Crosshair button at bottom left corner of the screen to be taken to open world.
Now tap on search button (magnifying glass icon) at bottom left side and choose to search “Monster”. You will now find monsters like Berserk Bear, Dire Wolf etc. whom you can defeat for a chance to get Monster Essence together with other rare rewards. Make sure you have the recommended number of troops before you decide to fight them as these monsters are not that easy to beat.
If you don’t have “Monsters” tab in your open world this means you haven’t yet built Smithy at your City. So make sure to upgrade your Chief’s Hall to level 16 to be able to build Smithy and ultimately unlock the Monsters tab in your open world. I recommend using Tier 2 and Tier 3 troops for fighting these monsters as Tier 1 troops would be too weak for them.
4. The fourth way to get this essence requires you to increase your “Hunter Level” found inside Smithy. To increase it you need to defeat monsters in the open world, as mentioned in the third way above. Every time you beat a monster you will earn Hunter Experience, which is what you need to increase your Hunter Level.
You can defeat up to 5 monsters per day. So make sure you complete all your daily conquest quests to be able to level up faster. Every time you reach a new Hunter Level you will be rewarded with Monster Essence and Monster Boxes. You can get up to 2050 monster essence by reaching max Hunter Level 9 at Smithy.
5. Another great way to get Monster Essence is by participating in Events. You can always find various events running in the game and some of these events can also give you these Essence. So don’t forget to take a look at all available events and most importantly fully explore each tasks and rewards of the event so that you can find out and complete exactly the task gives you Monster Essence.
6. You can also get it by joining a really active and powerful Tribe. There is a section called “Tribe Gift” inside Tribe where all tribe members can get various items as reward whenever a tribe member buys any pack or defeats a Niflung leader. Many times you can also get Monster Essence and various other rare items as reward.
