Did you always wondered how to get potential rewards in Marvel Contest of Champions? These are really shiny but rare rewards that the game can potentially award you with, but never actually tells you the exact way to win these rewards. You might have also sometimes won this reward randomly during your quest but you would have never actually figured out what caused the drop of these potential rewards. Luckily we have finally figured out how you can win the potential rewards and in this post we are going to tell you our exact method to claim these rewards. So let’s check it out!
How To Get Potential Rewards
When you are at the character selection screen, before entering the fight in your quest, you can find a “Rewards” button near the bottom center of the screen. Tapping on it you can see the “Potential Rewards” section. These rewards vary according to the Act you are playing in. Higher level Acts grant you better potential rewards.
In the image below you can see a Tier 3 Basic Iso 8, a Level 1 Health Potion and a Tier 2 Iso 8 can be won as potential rewards.
This has been one of the most interested topics of discussions among players of this game. Everybody claims to have won these rewards once in a while but nobody knows any guaranteed method to win these rewards every time in your quest. Many players claim that there is actually no way to intentionally win these rewards and their drop is completely random, however that is not completely true.
In our long and deep testing we have found that the potential rewards can actually be won whenever you want. If you successfully win the fight by defeating your opponent in a very specific way then you can always win these rewards. We did a lot of testing and finally found the circumstances under which the drops of potential rewards gets triggered.
We found that the game wants you to be highly skilled in your fighting style and only then it grants you any or all of the potential rewards. If you are thinking that highly skilled means doing a longer combo chain (i.e. dealing consecutive damage without getting hit) then sorry, because its not only about maintaining a longer combo. There are some other things also which you need to do in your fight to get their drops. There are 3 things that you need to keep in mind while fighting and if you successfully win the fight by following these 3 rules then you are almost guaranteed to win the potential rewards! So let’s look at those most important 4 points.
1. Have Variety In Your Attacks – Of course, you might be really good at getting longer combos but if you want to win those rewards then doing only longer combos will not work for you. After playing the game for several weeks, you might have developed your own set of attacks which you might be really good at, and using the same attack set in all fights. But you need to change that now. For example, you might be fighting all your opponents by using a particular set of attacks like “Light Attack (L) – Light Attack (L) – Light Attack (L) – Medium Attack (M)”. You need to now continuously vary your sequence of attacks type used in your attacks. So instead of using just “L L L M” every time, use L L M, then after that use L M L L, then use M L L etc. Use at least 3-4 types of attack sequence in each fight. You don’t need to use a new sequence every time you attack, you just need to develop 3-4 sets of sequence and they attack by continuously varying those sequence (in no particular order). The more variety you can show in the fight, higher your chances of wining 1 or all the 3 potential rewards.
It might seem difficult to incorporate this fighting style in your attacks at first but after a little practice you will get used to it. We have found that this is without doubt the most important deciding factor of potential rewards drop and thus take some time to master this fighting style can give you abundant quantities of Iso 8 and other really useful items.

2. Use Only 1st and 2nd Special Attacks – That’s right, you need to say good bye to your 3rd special attack. We found that every time we used the 3rd special in a fight, we never won the rewards (even after following the other 2 points). However, if you are fighting against a really hard opponent then its better to not play for rewards and use your 3rd special whenever you can. But for the rest of the fights you need to use only 1st and 2nd special attacks if your aim is to earn potential rewards.
3. Don’t Win Perfectly – This might seem a bit weird but its also one of the deciding factors. You don’t have to win your fight perfectly (i.e. winning without getting even a single hit from the opponent), but you also don’t have to get hit quite often. Don’t get hit more than 2-3 times during the whole fight otherwise you lose your chances of earning rewards. The way you can implement this point in your fight is that you just keep fighting normally by following the two points mentioned above and don’t try to get any intentional hits from the opponent. Make sure to block the attacks or step away from the opponents attack range. Then, when you see that you are close to winning the fight and you haven’t yet got any single hits, then at this time, let the opponent deliver 2-3 hits to you and then finish him to win the fight. This way you are taking care of both points, i.e. you are not winning the fight perfectly and you are getting just 2-3 hits during the whole fight.
And that it! Just follow the above mentioned 3 critical points in your fights and you will have an almost 80% chance of winning potential rewards. Remember that you must follow all the 3 points in a fight and not just 1 or 2 of the above points.
The above points are the actual reasons that you were never able to win those rewards on demand because you always failed to follow one or more of the above important points. So now get to work and master these methods in your fighting style.
